FROM STUDIO C IN BRAMPTON ONTARIO CANADA IT'S AL
COOL DADDY SMITH ON ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #5045
TRIBUTE TO ROBIN LUKE

This show features One Hit Wonder - Singer Robin Luke,
guitarist and song writer, Dr. Robin Luke is known only for
his 1958 number 5 hit 'Susie Darlin' however  Robin  recorded
dozens of great tunes none of which our listeners have likely
never heard. Though his  recording career lasted only four or
five years at most his recorded legacy is worthwhile and many of
the tunes to be played on this show could easily have rivalled
'Susie Darlin' especially the song "All Because of You" in terms of chart
success had they received appropriate exposure. His life after music
was a great success and this is mentioned during the show. My thanks
to Lane Quigley for his assistance in the preparation of this show.

The play list is as follows:

1. Well Oh Well Oh-Robin Luke   1960
2. Poor Me-Robin Luke  1959
3. Everlovin'-Robin Luke  1960
4. All Because Of You-Robin Luke  1960
5. Living's Loving You-Robin Luke  1958
6. Susie Darlin' -Robin Luke  1958
7. Hay Ride-Robin Luke  1959
8. Chicka Chicka Honey-Robin Luke  1958
9. My Girl-Robin Luke  1958
10. Strollin' Blues-Robin Luke  1958
11. Five Minutes More-Robin Luke  1958
12. Make Me A Dreamer-Robin Luke  1959
13. All Because of You-Robin Luke  1960
(Reprised as both Robin and Randy Wood owner of Dot Records
consider it his best song.)
14. Poor Little Rich Boy-Robin Luke  1961
15. Bad Boy-Robin Luke  1959
16. School Bus Love Affair-Robin Luke  1959
17. Walking In The Moonlight-Robin Luke
18. It Had To Happen-Robin Luke  1960
19. Won't You Please be Mine-Robin Luke  1958
20. Who's Gonna Hold Your Hand-Robin Luke  1959
21. Foggin' Up The Windows-Robin Luke  1962
22. Robin Luke Sound Bite.(Thanks to lane Quigley for this).

Thank you Al for a great show on a great artist that deserved
way more recognition!  If you have any requests, or comments
or would like to write to Al Cool Daddy you can at:

THE LOST SHOWS - STEVE PROPES' 45 SHOW ON
ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #5046

About a year ago Steve Propes Rock and Roll Author and
expert and DJ who produced his shows out of WPMD in Cerritos,
California - The Station stopped broadcasting and Steve lost
his studios to produce his shows.
But his last 50 shows still had not aired on Rock-it Radio.
In the move from California to Idaho these shows have been
shuffled around.  But they have been rediscovered and features
Steve Propes at this best with interviews of the R&B and Rock
Scene of the 50s and 60s and him playing from the original vinyl
from his collection of that era.  We don't have a playlist of
these shows but we are airing these last 50 or so shows for the
next few months.  So, come on in and tune in!

If you have a recording studio in the Long Beach, California
area perhaps you could make a deal with Steve to where he can
produce these shows once again.  Or if you have any comments for
Steve you can contact him at:  45sshow@rockitradio.net

NOTE: THIS SHOW FEATURES A INTERVIEW ON LOS ANGELES FLASH RECORDS
AND IT'S HISTORY.

RIP BILL BOWEN LONG TIME SUPPORTER OF ROCK-IT RADIO

We are sad to announce the passing of a great supporter
of this station.  Mr. Bill Bowen.  Bill was from Ft. Myers
Florida, and was instrumental in many of our programs
esp. with Al Cool Daddy Smith in Studio C in Canada.
Bill would share his vast collection of music along with
ideas for future shows here at Rock-it Radio that he would
think listeners would enjoy.  His son notified Al Smith of
his passing of a sudden heart attack a couple of week's ago.
RIP Bill you will be missed greatly along with your ideas
and sharing of this great music.

radio shows, you should tune in as soon as you can. These shows to have a high audio
quality require a lot of internet bandwidth and memory. And currently we can only afford
the 30 latest shows online here at Rock-it Radio.  So, when a new show is put online it
knocks the oldest one off the Rock-it Radio archives page.  Usually a show will at least last
16 to 20 days, once it is placed in the archives.

MATT THE CAT AND THE JUKE IN THE BACK SHOW WITH EARLY
FLAMINGOS FROM 1953 TO 1954.  ON ROCK-IT RADIO #5021

The Flamingos, Pt. 1  1953-54

The 'Juke In The Back' jumps and grooves this week as Matt
The Cat begins a 3 part feature on The Flamingos, one of the
most influential and best remembered vocal groups of the 1950s.
In part one, we'll dig on both sides of all six single releases
that the Flamingos had on Chance Records in 1953-54. These are
The Flamingos very first recordings and most of them feature the
amazing Sollie McElroy on lead tenor. The Flamingos would become
known as one of the greatest and smoothest sounding R&B vocal
groups of the 1950s and would achieve cross-over success by the end
of the decade. In part 2, we’ll focus on their mid-career with
their Parrot and Checker singles and then in part 3, their Decca
and End recordings will be spotlighted. Dig The Flamingos on this
week's Juke in the Back show.

FROM STUDIO C IN BRAMPTON ONTARIO CANADA IT'S AL
COOL DADDY SMITH ON ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #5031
ZEB AND ZEKE TAYLOR ROCKABILLY TRIBUTE

This show is a feature on two unheralded pioneers of Rockabilly,
William Grishaw and his brother Jame Grishaw aka  Zeb and Zeke Turner.
Zeb was a guitarist, composer and singer who is one of those
unknown and unheralded  contributors to Rockabilly. His music
ranged from country and western to proto- rockabilly and his
tune Jersey Rock predates both Elvis and Bill Haley as far as
fusing Country and Western with R&B to create Rock and Roll.
Zeke was a talented guitar player. He was one of the very first
session guitarists in Nashville and developed guitar techniques
that were subsequently copied  by other guitar players.
At times both brothers played on the same tunes especially on
the recordings of Red Foley and Hank Williams. Some examples of
these recordings  are played as well as many of the recordings
they did separately. I would like to thank Bill Bowen from
Ft. Myers Florida for his help yet again in assembling the music
for this show.

The play list is as follows:

1. Back Back Back To Baltimore-Zeb Turner  1951
2. Move It On Over-Hank Williams  1947
3. It's A Sin-Marty Robbins  1969
4. Zeke's Guitar Boogie  1950
5. Ain't Had No Lovin'-Zeb Turner  1946
6. Coal Miner Blues-Zeb Turner  1947
7. Huckleberry Blues-Zeb Turner  1950
8. I Got A Lot of Time For a Lot of Things-Zeb Turner  1951
9. Tennessee Boogie-Zeb Turner  1949
10. Dolly Dimple Dance-Zeb Turner  1951
11. Jersey Rock-Zeb Turner  1953
12. There'll Be No Teardrops Tonight-Hank Williams  1948
13. Blues Stay Away From Me-The Delmore Brothers  1950
14. Sing Your Song Baby-Louis Innes  1955
15. Boogie Woogie Lou-Zeb Turner  1949
16. Hard Hearted You and Chicken Hearted Me-Zeb Turner  1950
17. Chew Tobacco Rag-Zeb Turner  1951
18. Freight Train Boogie-Red Foley and His Cumberland Valley Boys  1947
19. You're My Cutie Pie-Zeb Turner  1953
20. Tennessee Saturday Night-Red Foley and His Cumberland Valley Boys  1948
21. Never Been So Lonesome-Zeb Turner  1949
22. Chattanooga Boogie-Zeb Turner  1946

THE LOST SHOWS - STEVE PROPES' 45 SHOW ON
ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #5033

About a year ago Steve Propes Rock and Roll Author and
expert and DJ who produced his shows out of WPMD in Cerritos,
California - The Station stopped broadcasting and Steve lost
his studios to produce his shows.

And currently we can only afford the 30 latest shows online here at Rock-it Radio.  So, when a new show is put online it knocks the oldest one off the Rock-it Radio archives page.  Usually a show will at least last 16 to 20 days, once it is placed in the archives.
