MATT THE CAT AND THE JUKE IN THE BACK SHOW ON ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #4779 - R&B CAR SONGS !!!!

The juke is jumpin' with records focusing on classic R&B songs
about cars. The automobile is a "road tested" symbol of the
American Dream. We have all this land and the car gives us the
freedom to get from one place to another.
We'll dig on some tunes about Cadillacs, Buicks, Mercurys and Model Ts.
Plus, musicologists Billy Vera and Steve Propes drop by the
"Juke In The Back" to make their cases that the first rock n' roll
song might have been about a car. "Juke In The Back" focuses on the
"soul that came before rock n' roll," the records that inspired Elvis,
Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.

1. Swanee River Boogie - Albert Ammons - Mercury 1947
2. Motorhead Baby - Chuck Higgins & The Mellotones - Combo 1951
3. No Money Down - Chuck Berry - Chess 1955

5. Buick 59 - Vernon Green & The Medallions - Dootone 1954
6. Push Button Automobile - Vernon Green & The Medallions - Dootone 1956
7. Fishtail Blues - Wynonie Harris - King 1955
8. T-Model Boogie - Rosco Gordon - 1951 (Prev. Unreleased)
9. Rocket 88 - Jackie Brenston & His Delta Cats - Chess 1951

BAD MONTH FOR THE ROCK-IT RADIO STORE - FIRST NEGATIVE FEEDBACK IN 3 YEARS.

It started off as a pretty good month for Rock-it Radio
and it's Launching Pad.  The place where we sell vintage
broadcasts to help run Rock-it Radio.  And we link it to
our Ebay account where we also sell the majority of the
shows for support of Rock-it Radio.  On Christmas day one
gentleman purchased a number of our shows in the UK.
We do have a 100% Satisfaction guarantee on our shows if
for any reason we will gladly refund.  The purchaser did have
to pay a customs duty that he was not happy about and gave
us 10 negative feedbacks that dropped our rating from 100%
to 99.6%.  Which a rating of less then 99.8% you don't get
the discounts and excellent dealer ratings and promotion from
Ebay.  Our sales have since slumped.  Hopefully it is just
temporary but the feedbacks do stick compute in your ratings
for a year.
In the future if anyone sees or wonders about that rating we
just want you to know it is the cause of one individual over
Customs I had no control over.

A THANK YOU TO ALL

In recent months many of you may know I have not been in
the best of health.  That is why the newsletter and shows
have been so sporadic.  I get a show on when we are feeling
like we can complete the task.  We are now finally feeling after
6 months to be on the mend.  And back to a more routine schedule.
Many have written to keep up on me and I am greatful and thank you.
When we first moved to Idaho in June - My Great Pyrenees dog Gilly - was released into our new home.  She charged my sister for no reason - And I got in the middle to block her. She proceeded to bite me rather viciously on the leg.  From me jumping back (Never bit me before)
I got Sciatica.  To remain working and moving around I would take excessive Ibuprofen which resulted in me contacting Stevens Johnson Syndrome, a disease that is caused by excessive use of Ibuprofen.  My whole body Blistered - with the exception of my face.
We have had several treatments of Steroids and Anti Biotics and other medication.  The Scaring and Scabbing is finally going away and we are finally able to feel like going out and doing things here and there.  Still need to get my wind - Inactive way too long esp.with spring coming up here.  And with me feeling better you will in the future see a much expanded Rock-it in programming.
Thank you everyone and take care!  S/ Bennie Dingo

Rock-it Radio Program Webpage Reminder

Remember, if the show that you want to hear is getting close to the bottom of the list of radio shows, you should tune in as soon as you can. These shows to have a high audio quality require a lot of internet bandwidth and memory. And currently we can only afford the 30 latest shows online here at Rock-it Radio.  So, when a new show is put online it knocks the oldest one off the Rock-it Radio archives page.  Usually a show will at least last 16 to 20 days, once it is placed in the archives.

MATT THE CAT AND THE JUKE IN THE BACK SHOW ON ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #4763 - SPOTLITE ON THE GRIFFIN BROTHERS

The Griffin Brothers

This week, "Juke In The Back" features The Griffin Brothers,
one of the unsung Rhythm & Blues groups from the early 1950s.
Jimmy and "Buddy" Griffin began in their hometown of Norfolk, VA in the late '40 playing jump blues. They settled in Washington, DC and were asked to backup Roy Brown on "Hard Luck Blues" in April, 1950. That recorded went to #1 in August and soon the brothers had their own record deal with Randy Wood's Dot Records out of Gallatin, TN. With vocalists Margie Day and Tommy Brown,
The Griffin Brothers Orchestra scored six charting R&B hits from
1950-52, before embarking on separate solo careers in 1954.
Matt The Cat features The Griffin's biggest hits, jumpin' B-sides
and solo records on this week's "Juke." The Griffin Brothers were
an important part of R&B's rise, scoring a #1 smash in early 1952
with "Weepin' & Cryin'" (featuring Tommy Brown on lead vocals)
and now they're finally getting their due, even if time has left
them behind.

============================================
Come Join the Rock-it Listener's Club

Want to join our Listeners Club?? And be notified when new shows are playing on the Rock-it. If you are not a member of our listeners club it is really easy to join... just go to our main website at: http://www.rockitradio.net
and click the button that reads... "click here to be on our mailing list" at the top of the page. When you click there leave your e mail address and you are in...it's free and it gives you the playlists and news on our latest shows.

OUR SISTER STATION FIRST NATIONS BROADCASTING.

We invite you to also check out our sister station -- First Nations
Broadcasting. And tune into the rather Cool North of the Yukon and Alaska with our very own Debbie Snowdove!

============================================
Well that is just about it for this newsletter and playlists of our latest
shows. We hope that you enjoy them.
We will do our best to keep these shows on for at least 14
days and hopefully 21 days.
