MATT THE CAT & THE JUKE IN THE BACK WITH A FEATURE ON THE CADILLACS IN ROCK-IT RADIO #4411
The Cadillacs
The Cadillacs began their journey in 1953 as The Carnations and when they changed their name they helped usher in a new era of automobile names for R&B vocal groups. Lead tenor Earl "Speedo" Carroll and bass singer Bobby Phillips forged a friendship that would carry on from their days growing up in Harlem until the day each of them passed on. While together, The Cadillacs produced some of the coolest jump tunes from the classic "Speedo" to the jazzy "Down The Road" and the killer "No Chance." As a ballad group, Speedo and the boys recorded the version of the immortal "Gloria" that all other vocal groups are measured against as well as other gorgeous tunes like "You Are" and "The Girl I Love." Matt The Cat features an interview with Earl Carroll himself, so that he can tell The Cadillacs story in his own words. We lost Earl Carroll and a little piece of early rock n' roll on November 25, 2012, but Speedo will never be forgotten in the hearts of those who dig REAL vocal group harmony.

VINTAGE VIDEO PICK OF THE WEEK
For the week of 2 January, 2013

============================================= LYRICS OF SO DOGGONE LONESOME! BY JOHNNY CASH
I do my best to hide this lowdown feelin' I try to make believe there's nothin' wrong But they're always askin' me about you darlin' And it hurts me so to tell 'em that you're gone
If they ask me, I guess, I'd be denyin' That I've been unhappy all alone But if they heard my heart they'd hear it cryin' Where's my darlin' when's she comin' home I ask myself a million times what's right for me to do To try to lose my blues alone or hang around for you Well I make it pretty good until that moon comes shinin' through And that I get so doggone lonesome
Time stands still when you're a waitin' Sometimes I think my heart is stoppin' too One lonely hour seems forever Sixty minutes more to wait for you But I guess I'll keep waitin' till you're with me 'Cause I believe that lovin' you is right But I don't care if the sun don't rise tomorrow If I can't have you with me tonight
Well I know, I'll keep on loving you 'cause true love can't be killed I ought to get you off of my mind but I guess I never will I could have a dozen others but I know, I'd love you still 'Cause I get so doggone lonesome

ROCK-IT RADIO LAUNCHING PAD PLEA FROM ROCK-IT RADIO.
Rock-it Radio is publicly supported and we rely on purchases from our Launching Pad for us to pay our bills from copyright to bandwidth. In October we had our 2nd worse month in sales and have run in the red with losses the last two months and November has gotten to a slow start as well. So many things are happening in the world from Hurricane Sandy victims to a difficult economy and so much more, I feel guilty in mentioning this. But if you have enjoyed Rock-it Radio this past year would you please consider helping us exist? We don't ask something for nothing. Every donation from the Rock-it Radio Launching pad you will receive a vintage Rock and Roll broadcast of your choice from the 50s thru the 70s and we have 100s to choose from. I know many of you save our shows on mp3 and we allow that and glad that you can do that. But we kindly ask for your support as well. These vintage shows also make great Holiday gifts to the oldies lovers in your family. Here are the links that help Rock-it Radio.

She also has a line of whimsical old fruit crate labels she has designed for our small citrus operation.

liked the savings so much we have endorsed and became a
affiliate of this service. So, cut your printer ink costs in half
