============================================== AL 'COOL DADDY' SMITH WITH A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO EARL BOSTIC AND HIS SAX ON ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #4468
This show is part one in a two part tribute to an unsung pioneer of R&B and one of the greatest alto Saxophone players of all time...Earl Bostic. Starting out as a Jazz man he evolved (some would say devolved) into an R&B artist in the late 1940's and then into a Pop stylist in the 1950's. In his R&B years he fused Jazz with R&B and in his Pop years he fused both Jazz and R&B with the Pop standards of the day. His music is hardly, if ever, played on radio today despite his popularity back in the 1950's. Hopefully this and a subsequent show will rectify this shameful neglect of a truly great artist. The playlist is as follows:
1.Cracked Ice - Earl Bostic 1956 2. Wrap It Up-Earl Bostic 1956 3. Bostic's Jump-Earl Bostic 1948 4. Earl's Rhumboogie 1948 5. Hot Sauce Boss-Earl Bostic 1948 6. 8:45 Stomp-Earl Bostic 1948 7. Southern Fried-Earl Bostic 1957 8. Jersey Bounce-Earl Bostic 1957 9. Swing Low Sweet Boogie-Earl Bostic 1949 10. Nay' Nay' Go Away-Earl Bostic 1949 11. Night Train-Earl Bostic 1957 12. Earl Blows A Fuse- Earl Bostic 1949 13. Avalon-Earl Bostic 1956 14. The Bo-Do Rock-Earl Bostic 1956 15. Laura-Earl Bostic 1956 16. That's A Groovy Thing Parts One and Two-Earl Bostic 1946 17. ============================================= NEW STREAM AUDIO FOR CONTINUOUS BROADCAST OF ROCK-IT RADIO ONLINE.
We have upgraded our stream and with a few starting bugs I think we have it all worked out. For those that tune us in on there iphone or podcast thru Tunein.com at: http://tunein.com/radio/Rock-it-Radio-s41878/
The Tunein.com folks are awesome just for the amount of stations that they carry! If you don't have it on your iphone I sure would suggest you grab it! They should be carrying the new stream in about a week.
We have switched our audio link to a m3u format. This is a more universal stream and can be received by a wider variety of formats from iphones, ipods, podcasts and your home pc on most modern computers. Easily and automatically recognized by mp3 players etc.
Those that would like to run a test on our audio link in the m3u format if you have any problems we should would like to hear from you. The link is: http://www.rockitradio.net/audio/live.m3u
The stream from our main webpage at rockitradio.net has also been changed and you can hear it when you click the VU Audio meter at the top of the page.
