This was a pivotal year for Rhythm and Blues Music as 1945 marked the beginning of a new sound in Black Music. As the war raged on, many of the African-American big bands found it hard to afford such large ensembles, so they slimed down to rhythm combos. Around the same time, blues singers were expanding their sound to go beyond just a guitar or piano accompaniment. They began adding rhythm sections and thus, Rhythm and Blues was born. 1945 marked the first year that this new style of music dominated the Black Community and the juke joints they patronized. 1945 was a strong year for jump blues cats like Louis Jordan, Joe Turner and Lionel Hampton. The blues cats faired well this year as Pvt. Cecil Gant had one of the year's biggest hits with his self-penned, "I Wonder," which was also successfully covered by Roosevelt Sykes and Louis Armstrong. Joe Liggins burst on the scene with "The Honeydripper," the biggest selling record of the year and quite possibly the entire decade! Matt The Cat's got a pocket full of nickels and he's ready to warm up the "Juke In The Back," so we can all dig that big beat jive of 1945! 1. HEY DINGO WHY THE NEWSLETTER SO LATE???? We apologise for taking so long to get this newsletter off to you. Seems like when I was working 2 jobs back in California I could find much more time and getting the newsletters out weekly. Now that I am semi retired and ranching here in North Idaho -- Time is a lot less available... Spring is birthing time and it has started early here along with all the chores. Also, last week I had a MRI done on my back and trying to get a handle on the pain in the posterior here. What was causing the Sciatica that is barely bearable at times.... Found out have a herniated disc on my last disc right above the tailbone. It has cut a lot of my time able to spend sitting - and computer work incl. newsletters. But next week we are hoping for a epideral that will hopefully help the situation. And we can get on a more regular schedule. |

Rock-it Radio Program Webpage Reminder
Remember, if the show that you want to hear is getting close to the bottom
of the list of radio shows, you should tune in as soon as you can. These shows
to have a high audio quality require a lot of internet bandwidth and memory.
And currently we can only afford the
30
latest shows online here at Rock-it Radio.
So, when a new show is put online it knocks the oldest one off the Rock-it Radio
archives page. Usually a show will at least last 16 to 20 days, once it is placed in
the archives.

OUR SISTER STATION FIRST NATIONS BROADCASTING.
We invite you to also check out our sister station -- First Nations
Broadcasting. And tune into the rather Cool North of the Yukon and Alaska
with our very own Debbie Snowdove!
============================================
Well that is just about it for this newsletter and playlists of our latest
shows. We hope that you enjoy them.
We will do our best to keep these shows on for at least 14
days and hopefully 21 days.
All the best always,
Bennie Dingo
