PART IV TRIBUTE TO RAY CHARLES ON ROCK-IT RADIO

Ray Charles, Part 4: 1957-58

This week, Juke in the back presents the final part of a 4 part

will cover 1948-58. In part 4, we'll dig on the A and B sides of every
Ray Charles single release on Atlantic Records from the summer of
1957 through the very end of 1958. This period is truly the cradle
of Soul Music, as Ray continues to mesh church-like feeling with secular

Mary Ann Fisher (who was not a Raylette) a solo vocal on
"What kind of Man are you?"
All recordings are on the Atlantic Record Labl unless noted.

8. You Be My Baby - Ray Charles 1958
9. Rockhouse, Pt. 1 - Ray Charles w/ His Orch  1958
10. Rockhouse Pt. 2 - Ray Charles w/ His Orch  1958
11. Tell All The World About You - Ray Charles w/ The Raylettes  1958

DJ SPINNING ROCK BOOGIE & THE MOVIN' AND GROOVIN' SHOW
ON ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #5181 - SPOTLIGHT NEW YORK CITY!

"REGIONAL ROUND UP Part 32 - NEW YORK CITY Pt 1"

Join me DJ Spinning Rock Boogie for another show in my series
"Regional Round Up".
To regular listeners of this show, you'll know that I usually
feature a particular State of America, with some of the record
labels from out of that State etc.
This show is slightly different in as much that instead of
featuring a State, I'll be featuring a City, and that City is
New York City. A whole lot of different styles of music have come
out of New York over the years and there's a whole host of record
labels to go at. As with all the shows in this series, not all of
the records were recorded in the particular location featured but
it's the record labels that we focus on, so, if the labels'
headquarters were in a the location featured then that's what we go
with. As we all know, a lot of the independent labels were swallowed
up by the big conglomerates, but if I have the information of the
original record label then that's used wherever appropriate.
Featured here are just a few of the labels out of New York City and
of course the artists who recorded on them, which includes, Rock and Roll,
Rockabilly, Jump Blues, Doo Wop, Teen Sounds, and Soul from the 50's
and 60's right across the board, plus my regular feature,
The Smooch Spot.

01. Intro - Medley
02. Sway With Me - Bill Haley & His Comets (58) Decca
03. Can't Stop - Lillian Briggs (56) Epic
04. Don't Say Maybe - Don "Red" Roberts (57) Rama
05. My Girl Ivy - Jimmy Witherspoon & The Quintones (56) Atco
06. She's My Honey - Gus Colletti (58) Tin Pan Alley
07. Gimme Gimme Gimme - The Carnations (59) Enrica
08. The Trouble With Boys - The Cinderellas (60) Columbia
09. Long Long Ponytail - Chuck Tharpe & The Fireballs (60) Jaro
10. Little Girls Boogie - Bob Gaddy & His Alley Cats (53) Jax
11. Livin' Doll - The Gemini Twins (64) Marco
12. Happy Beat - The Kents (58) Dome
13. Noise - Tico & The Triumphs (62) Amy
14. Play By The Rules Of Love - The Cavaliers (58) APT
15. I Believe I'm Gonna Make It - Joe Tex (66) Dial
16. Portrait Of A Fool - Conway Twitty (61) MGM
17. Autumn Leaves - The Accents (59) Coral
18. Tired Of Beggin' - The Sly Fox (54) Spark

THE LOST SHOWS - STEVE PROPES' 45 SHOW ON
ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #5187

About a year ago Steve Propes Rock and Roll Author and
expert and DJ who produced his shows out of WPMD in Cerritos,
California - The Station stopped broadcasting and Steve lost
his studios to produce his shows.
But his last 50 shows still had not aired on Rock-it Radio.
In the move from California to Idaho these shows have been
shuffled around.  But they have been rediscovered and features
Steve Propes at this best with interviews of the R&B and Rock
Scene of the 50s and 60s and him playing from the original vinyl
from his collection of that era.  We don't have a playlist of
these shows but we are airing these last 50 or so shows for the
next few months.  So, come on in and tune in!

If you have a recording studio in the Long Beach, California
area perhaps you could make a deal with Steve to where he can
produce these shows once again.  Or if you have any comments for
Steve you can contact him at:  45sshow@rockitradio.ne

Come tune into  the World on your computer!

1000s of stations around the world now broadcast online.  We have a
link to some of the internet top directories to help you find these stations.

Rock-it Radio Program Webpage Reminder

Remember, if the show that you want to hear is getting close to the bottom
of the list of radio shows, you should tune in as soon as you can. These shows
to have a high audio quality require a lot of internet bandwidth and memory.
And currently we can only afford the
30
latest shows online here at Rock-it Radio.

So, when a new show is put online it knocks the oldest one off the Rock-it Radio
archives page.  Usually a show will at least last 16 to 20 days, once it is placed in
the archives.

============================================
OUR SISTER STATION FIRST NATIONS BROADCASTING.

We invite you to also check out our sister station -- First Nations
Broadcasting. And tune into the rather Cool North of the Yukon and Alaska
with our very own Debbie Snowdove!

============================================
Well that is just about it for this newsletter and playlists of our latest
shows. We hope that you enjoy them.
We will do our best to keep these shows on for at least 14
days and hopefully 21 days.
All the best always,
Bennie Dingo
