OTTO FUCHS AND THE ROCKIN' THE JOINT SHOW ON
ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #5133 TRIBUTE TO THE TEDDY BOY.

From Baden, Austria comes Otto Fuchs and the Rockin' The Joint show
Filled with 1950s Rock and Roll and Rockabilly.

In this Rockin' The Joint Show we'll pay tribute to Britain's first ever youth subculture
The Teds! The soul of the Teddy Boys were the 1950s: Teddy Boys, whose
appearance in the ´50s pre-dated the arrival of Rock & Roll, getting their name in 1953.
In the post war years London´s Saville Row tailors had tried to re-introduce the clothing
styles of the Edwardian era, and this fashion was eventually latched on to youngsters
who sought to differiantiate themselves as teenagers. A newspaper headline shortened
Edward to Teddy, added the Boys and the sub-culture was born.
Drape jackets with velvet collars, drainpipe trousers, Slim Jim ties, bright coloured socks
and crepe-soled-shoes were soon in fashion for youngsters, who topped the style off with a
Ducktail haircut. With rock & roll hard on the heels of the Teddy Boy fashion, small
wonder that the two became inseperably entwined!

01.   Teddy Boy Rock & Roll - Crazy Cavan & The Rhythm Rockers
02.  Hurricane - Matchbox
03.  Rockin´ My Life Away - Backdraft

THE LOST SHOWS - STEVE PROPES' 45 SHOW ON
ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #5138

About a year ago Steve Propes Rock and Roll Author and
expert and DJ who produced his shows out of WPMD in Cerritos,
California - The Station stopped broadcasting and Steve lost
his studios to produce his shows.
But his last 50 shows still had not aired on Rock-it Radio.
In the move from California to Idaho these shows have been
shuffled around.  But they have been rediscovered and features
Steve Propes at this best with interviews of the R&B and Rock
Scene of the 50s and 60s and him playing from the original vinyl
from his collection of that era.  We don't have a playlist of
these shows but we are airing these last 50 or so shows for the
next few months.  So, come on in and tune in!

If you have a recording studio in the Long Beach, California
area perhaps you could make a deal with Steve to where he can
produce these shows once again.  Or if you have any comments for
Steve you can contact him at:  45sshow@rockitradio.net

TWO BOOKS WORTH HAVING FOR OLDIES LOVERS

If you or a friend or loved one is a 50s Rock and Roll fan maybe
Their might be some great books to put under the Christmas Tree this
Year.
The First one is written by Rock-it Radio's very own Otto Fuchs and features
the Story of Bill Haley titled: Bill Haley: The Father of Rock 'n' Roll
you can order it on Amazon.com at:

or in the Rockabilly Hall of fame website at:

The hoopla surrounding the purported fiftieth anniversary of rock & roll didn't
quite ring true. Bill Haley might have lobbied for 2001 ... fifty years after
he'd covered Rocket '88'; or 2002 ... fifty years after he'd recorded Rock
The Joint; or 2003 ... fifty years after he broke into the pop charts with
Crazy Man Crazy, a record that fit every criterion of rock 'n' roll. But, of course,
Bill Haley said not a word; he had died neglected and alone on the Mexican
border in 1981, and even at the time of his death he was wondering why he'd be
written out of the story." (Colin Escott, Nashville)

On April 12th 1954, Bill Haley & His Comets created the "National Anthem Of Teenagers"
(Lillian Roxon) with "Rock Around The Clock", - the song which became the best-selling
rock single of all time. It was not until July 6th 1954 when Elvis Presley cut his first disc
- "That's Alright" - which became only a local hit in Memphis. During the same year,
Bill Haley & His Comets received their first gold records for their million-sellers "Shake,
Rattle & Roll" and "Dim Dim the Lights". Bo Diddley was a year away from scoring his
first hit. The same applied to Chuck Berry. Buddy Holly was sixteen and playing with school
friend Bob Montgomery as a Western swing duo. Little Richard did various odd jobs,
whereas Fats Domino did not change his New Orleans R&B to a more mainstream
rock & roll approach until 1955. Last but not least, Jerry Lee Lewis was still
performing country music in the honky tonks of Louisiana.

++++
AND FOR THE DOO WOP LOVERS

The other Book that we suggest is written by Michael Devlin and if you
Are a lover of Doo Wop Music you might want this book! Plenty of great
Vintage pictures and tells the story of the Doo Wop Group "The G Clefs"
It is available thru Amazon.com at:

In 1956 the G-Clefs recorded their first hit 'Ka Ding Dong. It ranked #24 on the
Billboard charts that year. Their biggest hit came later in 1961 with 'I Understand'
reaching # 9 also on Billboard's top 100. In 1997 PBS featured singing groups like
the G-Clefs to appear on their televised production that made Doo-Wop popular
again throughout the entire country. This is the story of the G-Clefs during that
time same period. There's numerous unpublished Photographs and stories
documenting their return to the spotlight with all the fame and disappointment's
that only a Doo-Wop singing group like theirs could possibly experience.
For the first time ever this is a comprehensive history of the very still popular
music of Doo- Wop and 'The saga of America's last original Doo-Wop group from
the 1950's still performing'. A must read for all the Doo-Wopper's out there!

Rockabilly bands looking for airplay

If you or know someone that would like airplay on Rock-it Radio we invite
you to submit your press kits to Rock-it Radio.  Our website for further
information is:

Come tune into  the World on your computer!

1000s of stations around the world now broadcast online.  We have a
link to some of the internet top directories to help you find these stations.

Rock-it Radio Program Webpage Reminder

Remember, if the show that you want to hear is getting close to the bottom
of the list of radio shows, you should tune in as soon as you can. These shows
to have a high audio quality require a lot of internet bandwidth and memory.
And currently we can only afford the
30
latest shows online here at Rock-it Radio.

So, when a new show is put online it knocks the oldest one off the Rock-it Radio
archives page.  Usually a show will at least last 16 to 20 days, once it is placed in
the archives.

============================================
OUR SISTER STATION FIRST NATIONS BROADCASTING.

We invite you to also check out our sister station -- First Nations
Broadcasting. And tune into the rather Cool North of the Yukon and Alaska
with our very own Debbie Snowdove!

============================================
Well that is just about it for this newsletter and playlists of our latest
shows. We hope that you enjoy them.
We will do our best to keep these shows on for at least 14
days and hopefully 21 days.
All the best always,
Bennie Dingo
