MATT THE CAT & THE JUKE IN THE BACK WITH A
FEATURE ON THE CADILLACS IN ROCK-IT RADIO #4411

The Cadillacs

The Cadillacs began their journey in 1953 as The Carnations and
when they changed their name they helped usher in a new era of
automobile names for R&B vocal groups. Lead tenor Earl "Speedo"
Carroll and bass singer Bobby Phillips forged a friendship that
would carry on from their days growing up in Harlem until the day
each of them passed on. While together, The Cadillacs produced
some of the coolest jump tunes from the classic "Speedo" to the
jazzy "Down The Road" and the killer "No Chance." As a ballad
group, Speedo and the boys recorded the version of the immortal
"Gloria" that all other vocal groups are measured against as well
as other gorgeous tunes like "You Are" and "The Girl I Love."
Matt The Cat features an interview with Earl Carroll himself, so that
he can tell The Cadillacs story in his own words. We lost Earl Carroll
and a little piece of early rock n' roll on November 25, 2012, but
Speedo will never be forgotten in the hearts of those who dig REAL
vocal group harmony.

1. Swanee River Boogie - Albert Ammons - Mercury 1947
2. Speedo - The Cadillacs - Josie 1955
3. Earl Carroll Interview #1
4. Gloria - The Cadillacs - Josie 1954

11. Down The Road - The Cadillacs - Josie 1955
12. You Are - The Cadillacs - Josie 1956
13. GREAT 78 - I Want To Know About Love - The Cadillacs - Josie 1954
14. Zoom - The Cadillacs - Josie 1956
15. Earl Carroll Interview #4
16. Woe Is Me - The Cadillacs - Josie 1956

LYRICS OF SO DOGGONE LONESOME!  BY JOHNNY CASH

I do my best to hide this lowdown feelin'
I try to make believe there's nothin' wrong
But they're always askin' me about you darlin'
And it hurts me so to tell 'em that you're gone

If they ask me, I guess, I'd be denyin'
That I've been unhappy all alone
But if they heard my heart they'd hear it cryin'
Where's my darlin' when's she comin' home
I ask myself a million times what's right for me to do
To try to lose my blues alone or hang around for you
Well I make it pretty good until that moon comes shinin' through
And that I get so doggone lonesome

Time stands still when you're a waitin'
Sometimes I think my heart is stoppin' too
One lonely hour seems forever Sixty minutes more to wait for you
But I guess I'll keep waitin' till you're with me
'Cause I believe that lovin' you is right
But I don't care if the sun don't rise tomorrow
If I can't have you with me tonight

Well I know, I'll keep on loving you
'cause true love can't be killed
I ought to get you off of my mind
but I guess I never will
I could have a dozen others
but I know, I'd love you still
'Cause I get so doggone lonesome

NEW STREAM AUDIO FOR CONTINUOUS BROADCAST
OF ROCK-IT RADIO ONLINE.

We have upgraded our stream and with a few starting bugs I
think we have it all worked out.  For those that tune us in
on there iphone or podcast thru Tunein.com at:
http://tunein.com/radio/Rock-it-Radio-s41878/

The Tunein.com folks are awesome just for the amount of
stations that they carry!  If you don't have it on your iphone

a more universal stream and can be received by a wider
variety of formats from iphones, ipods, podcasts and your
home pc on most modern computers.  Easily and automatically
recognized by mp3 players etc.

Those that would like to run a test on our audio link in the m3u
format if you have any problems we should would like to hear from
you.  The link is:

ROCK-IT RADIO LAUNCHING PAD PLEA FROM ROCK-IT
RADIO.

Rock-it Radio is publicly supported and we rely on purchases from
our Launching Pad for us to pay our bills from copyright to bandwidth.
In October we had our 2nd  worse month in sales and
have run in the red with losses the last two months and November
has gotten to a slow start as well.
So many things are happening in the world from Hurricane Sandy
victims to a difficult economy and so much more, I feel guilty in
mentioning this.
But if you have enjoyed Rock-it Radio this past year would you
please consider helping us exist?  We don't ask something for
nothing.  Every donation from the Rock-it Radio Launching pad
you will receive a vintage Rock and Roll broadcast of your choice
from the 50s thru the 70s and we have 100s to choose from.
I know many of you save our shows on mp3 and we allow that
and glad that you can do that.   But we kindly ask for your support
as well.  These vintage shows also make great Holiday gifts to the
oldies lovers in your family.  Here are the links that help Rock-it
Radio.

SAVE MONEY ON PRINTER INK THROUGH ROCK-IT
RADIO!

One of the biggest office expenses here at Rock-it Radio is

printer ink.  Everytime we would go to Staples or Office Mart
we would pay $50 to $100 on printer ink.  We have been able
to cut that cost in half with mailorder through 123 inkjet.  We
liked the savings so much we have endorsed and became a
affiliate of this service.  So, cut your printer ink costs in half
and help Rock-it Radio at the same time, by ordering through
123 Inkjets on our webpage.  The link is at the bottom of our
main webpage at: http://www.rockitradio.net

I hope you will be as pleasantly surprised as I was with the
savings of printer ink!

Rock-it Radio Program Webpage Reminder
Remember, if the show that you want to hear is getting close to the bottom of the list of radio shows, you should tune in as soon as you can. These shows to have a high audio quality require a lot of internet bandwidth and memory. And currently we can only afford the 25 latest shows online here at Rock-it Radio.  So, when a new show is put online it knocks the oldest one off the Rock-it Radio archives page.  Usually a show will at least last 16 to 20 days, once it is placed in the archives.
